Overnight, word came out that the Seattle Mariners have hired former Atlanta Braves hitting coach Kevin Seitzer for the same role with the big-league club. Bobby Magallanes, the ex-Braves assistant hitting coach who was let go by Atlanta with Seitzer and now-Los Angeles Angels coach Sal Fasano, is also joining the Mariners in the same role he had in Atlanta. For Seattle, the move came about as Edgar Martinez - who was the interim hitting coach last season - moved to a position overseeing hitting but not as a full-time member of the coaching staff.
The Atlanta Braves announce the signing of outfielder Carlos D. Rodriguez to a non-guaranteed contract for 2025. According to ESPN’s Kiley McDaniel, he is a plus runner and strong defender with an excellent batting approach but with more hit tool than power.
