On January 20th, Auburn Outreach and the National Forum of Black Public Administrators (East Central Alabama Chapter) hosted the MLK Day Scholarship Breakfast at The Hotel at Auburn University and Dixon Conference Center to commemorate Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and celebrate people embodying his legacy.

Lasting impact: Auburn University Outreach program continues to influence lives after four decades


The Government & Economic Development Institute (GEDI) has been helping city leaders make a difference for four decades.

The Auburn University Outreach program and its Intensive Economic Development Training Course have thrived since their creation more than 40 years ago, equipping young professionals with the skills and networking opportunities needed to impact communities throughout Alabama and beyond. With a mission of “promoting effective government policy and management, civic engagement, economic prosperity and improved quality of life for the State of Alabama and its communities,” GEDI continues to be a difference-maker for anyone looking to work in fields that help shape their community’s future.

Anne Leader, an OLLI at Auburn instructor, recently received $400,000 in grants for one of her projects and will present at the upcoming OLLI Brown Bag Series on Wednesday, Jan. 29, at 11:30 a.m. at Pebble Hill in Auburn.

Encyclopedia of Alabama Empowers Teacher at Edgewood Elementary


Fourth grade teacher Amber Broadhead at Edgewood Elementary of Homewood City Schools is making history in Homewood, AL.

She was recognized as the 2023 Alabama History Teacher of the Year for thinking “outside the box” and providing a plethora of hands-on learning experiences for her students.

Auburn University Outreach’s Ryan Moss has been selected to join the honorable Leadership Lee County professional development program


The Leadership Lee County program develops local leaders to “solve problems of community and statewide significance.” The nine-month program includes offering educational and professional learning opportunities and practicing civic involvement in the community.

As the Assistant Director for the Center for Educational Outreach & Engagement (CEOE), he has attained a plethora of experience in serving his community, making him an excellent pick for this opportunity to develop his skills alongside other leading professionals.
