The trade deadline panic. Do something, anything, we need pitching... but don't pay full price for the good stuff.
So what does Management do? At the 11th hour they traded 2 really good prospects/players Stowers and Norby for a pine riding mediocre AA grade pitcher from the Marlins just to say they did something.
Oh yes, he pitched so well for them they were scraping the bottom of the standings all season.
They could have moved AAA guys up from Norfolk to throw better than Rogers for no cost!
At the time, rumors were flying around the league about the availability of T. Skubal ... the Cy Young candidate that the O's will most likely face in the first game of the wildcard round...
To get him the O's would have to trade top prospect Jackson Holliday and unfortunately they had already printed up T shirts with his name on them.
I'm sorry but Jackson Holiday is not the next Bryce Harper, and is not the great hope for the future. He has proven himself to be an above average fielder with a good eye to take walks.
Jackson being traded as the number 1 prospect along with the wasted trades of Norby and Stowers could have put Skubal in an Orioles uniform.
Skubal, Eflin, and Burns start... use Suarez and Kremer as middle relievers in a pinch...whose gonna beat that?
He blew it!
