Time to make a big move. Orioles need rock solid pitching to go neck and neck with the Yankees and to advance deep into the playoffs.
Hope and prayer didn't work last year and the glut of talent sitting unused is criminal. They waited until the end of the trade deadline and Flaherty was the only pitcher left. That worked out well...
The A's have a guy Miller who throws 103 and is under team control. He will be expensive...Pay It!
Jackson Holiday and say a first or second round draft pick should do it. If you have to throw in Hays... so be it.
Luzado on the Marlins should be snapped up a.s.a.p. Mayo, another minor league pitcher and whatever.
The Orioles have a wealth of young players. Half of the starting roster is made up of rookies or 2nd year players who will be around for a while. I mean please, Mountcastle and Rutchman are considered old line veterans?
Now is the time to use the collateral on the bench and in the minor leagues as trading fodder. What are they being saved for? With one or two more pieces, this team can make a legitimate championship run.
Although being traded has to hurt, it is better to let these players move on and develop their careers rather than to have them rot on the bench. It is the decent thing to do.
