Abstract
This paper presents the results of an experimental trial involving video-conferencing in which two schools were invited to share a lecture using a dedicated high bandwidth network test facility. The trial was designed specifically to assess the feasibility of using video-conferencing technology in an educational setting. Results indicate that whilst video conferencing does appear to offer a viable method of delivering lectures from a central resource to remote sites, further improvements to system capability and teaching methods may need to be made to help optimise the potential of the technology in education and training environments.
