Elected to the office of High Chancellor of Cybertron, Sentinel Prime seemed to be an effective leader who cared about all his constituents' sparks. Ask Vector Prime In the aftermath of the Liege Maximo incident, Megatron convinced Sentinel Prime to spare war criminal Shockwave from the smelting pits, arguing that the scientist's brilliant mind could be put to better use under his supervision. Ask Vector Prime This revelation was so severe that it nearly brought Cybertron into civil war, and in its aftermath numerous officials were tried, convicted, and imprisoned. At the time, Vector Prime believed that Sentinel was not fully aware of the magnitude of the horrors Liege was playing with.

Some time after leaving office, Sentinel expressed concern that he was not doing everything he possibly could to aid the TransTechs' evolution. Wary of asking others to participate in dangerous experimentation after the Liege Maximo incident, he began a series of cutting-edge experiments to bridge the gap between the physical robot form and the energy-based spark, using his own body. During his final experiment, Sentinel disappeared, leaving behind only a smoldering body. However, an autopsy found no carbon scoring in his laser core.
