Duck Diver
From Transformers Wiki
- Duck Diver is a Beastformer from the Generation 1 continuity family.
Always with a big smile on his bill, Duck Diver (ダックダイバー Dakkudaibā) is quick with a joke, and even quicker with a pun or ten once he gets a little drinky-drinky. Despite his young age, he has become Emperor of Lapaul, and his good cheer has made him very popular among its people.
Not that he takes his job lightly. He is exceptionally skilled at underwater exploration, with love for the sea and its mysteries, and he isn't afraid to dive into unknown waters. It helps that his MVP Weapon, the Aqua Barrier (アクアバリア Akua Baria) can envelop him in a pressurized bubble, letting him safely explore even the most crushing depths. He's even more effective when assisted by King Koala Gray: with Koala's incredible hearing acting as sonar, he can relay information to Diver for speedier exploration.

Beastformers
- Duck Diver (Beastformer, 1988)
- ID number: 71
- Pack: H
- Accessories: "Aqua Barrier" MVP Weapon (usually)
- Released only in the post-Transformers "RPG"-themed Beastformers sequel series, Duck Diver is an anthropomorphic platypus (not a duck!) in brown robotic armor. His left hand is posed as a flat-palmed flipper. The Battle Emblem on his chest reveals one of three symbols when warmed up; Fire, Water or Wood.
- Nominally, he comes with his "Aqua Barrier" spear. However, there is also a chance he could come with the weapon from any of the other Beastformers in his shipping case; matching the Beasts with their same-numbered weapons was part of the "role-playing game" attached to the line, encouraging kids to buy more of the toys.
- As part of the first assortment of individually-boxed Beastformers in the "RPG" line, there was a chance his normal pack-in bio card would be replaced with a rare "Burstsun" holo card featuring White Leo on the front, with a Burstsun Battle Emblem sticker in a little baggie affixed to the back, for you to attach to whichever Beastformer you chose. He was later re-released in the second style of "RPG" box, with a peg-hole in the top flap, and a sticker on the bottom with his name and role on it.
- Later in the run, the "mood ring" styled rubsigns were replaced with new rubsigns that revealed full-color Fire/Wood/Water images on black backdrops. (These rubsign variants also happened at the same time in the Hasbro Battle Beast version of the line.)
Notes
- Duck Diver is one of 22 figures that were advertised on multiple Transformers-era materials but not actually released in that iteration of the line.
- Duck Diver's 1987 art (seen at right) incorrectly gives him a gold-colored weapon and black armor. His retouched 1988 bio card (at top) gives him a much more accurate coloration.
- Said 1988 bio card gives him the nickname... uh... "Daddy" (ダディー Dadī). No, we have no idea why. Obscure Japanese pop-culture reference? Who knows.
