Notes
- Devastator was planned to appear in the unproduced fourth season of Transformers Animated as the combined form of the Construticons. Aside from the headshot seen here, which was one of the first things Derrick J. Wyatt "doodled" when he began work on the series,[1] the full design of the character was never finalized, including exactly how many Constructicons he would have been formed from. Over the years, Wyatt repeatedly stated that it had been his desire to added a couple more members to the team (though he never settled on who),[2] though both Marty Isenberg and Eric Siebenaler have noted that Hasbro's unwillingness to commit to an expensive Devastator toy meant it was unsure if they would be able to go ahead with this idea, or include Devastator in the show at all.[3] One consistent idea expressed by all three creators is that early plans involved the Constructicons forcing an unwilling Bulkhead to become part of Devastator with them.[4] Siebenaler created a simple colour guide to show how this combination would work using only the three existing Constructicons, which made Dirt Boss the combiner's head, Bulkhead the torso and arms, and Mixmaster and Scrapper the legs,[5] which corroborates statements by Wyatt on which body parts he would have liked them to form.[6][7]
- In 2011, Erector's Transformers Hall of Fame nomination video showed off a full-body design for Animated Erector, claiming he would have formed essentially the entire lower half of Devastator. Like everything else created for that video, this was just a joke and would never have been part of the show. Likewise, the evil Constructicon-colours redeco of Animated Erector, Skipjack, was never going to be part of Devastator, because he was only created in 2015 for the Complete AllSpark Almanac guidebook.[8]
