Argon Sea
From Transformers Wiki
The Argon Sea is a gaseous sea on Cybertron. It's one of only three known seas, the others being the Rust Sea and Mithril Sea. Beneath its cloud-like surface exists a massive realm of mechanimals, and it becomes a true liquid sea as one travels deeper down into it. The Argon Sea hosts both guardians and dangers within...
The Sea is stratified into three high-visibility layers, separated by thinner layers of purple-blue gas. Dense areas of kelp-like spires rise up in the first layer, which serve as home to flying Arthropods. The depths are also home to various sapient forms of life. The second is dominated by skyscraper-like pillars, while the third is a night-like layer with a blue-green floor.

In the forgotten past, the Titan known as the Dweller was banished to the depths of the Argon Sea where he was watched over by Hammerbyte. Dweller In The Depths
When everyone banded together to waste Judge Starscream's time, Sky-Byte mentioned that Optimus and Megatron were having a picnic on the beaches of the Argon Sea. The End Of The Universe II
When Windblade shattered her mind freeing Croaton from Quintesson control, one of her shards found its way to the Dweller. Reactivated by the energy influx, the Dweller took pity on the damaged cityspeaker and sent the enthralled Hammerbyte to retrieve her.
Chromia and Bumblebee followed Hammerbyte into Argon Sea via an Autobot shuttle. After the ship was set upon by a pack of energy-draining aquatic mechanimals that took their shields offline, the return of Hammerbyte sent the predators fleeing. When he began attacking instead, Bumblebee managed to subdue him with his stingers, freeing Hammerbyte from the Dweller's control but falling into the depths in the process. After Chromia and Hammerbyte came to an understanding, he directed her to the resting place of the Dweller where they found Bumblebee entering via a hatch. While Chromia was quick to follow, Hammerbyte was dosed with the Dweller's hypnotic gas again. Chromia managed to reach the Dweller's main chamber and learnt of his plan. After she'd managed to use Bumblebee's stinger to free him and Hammerbyte, the Autobots fled the chamber with Windblade's body as the Dweller unleashed more gas. As the shuttle rose through the sea, the Titan sent his tentacles after the Autobot ship and dragged it down, unaware that the crew had abandoned ship. After a brief farewell, Hammerbyte returned to the Sea, musing that the Dweller's now active state made his duty of protecting the Sea that much harder. Dweller In The Depths
Notes
- The purplish hue that bathes the Argon Sea is reminiscent of the real-world element Argon, which glows violet when electrified. Furthermore, Argon is about 30% denser than Earth's atmosphere, meaning a large body of the substance would indeed pool at the lowest available altitude.
