Admit it: you didn't want to leave the room either.

The ancient map room is a holographic observatory of the universe scouted by the mysterious Ancients, located deep within a tomb in the Sea of Rust. The Ancients used it to store information and coordinates of all the locations they visited in their time. Even long after the Ancients ceased to be, any Transformer can still use it for whatever they please, though the room's data and projections have not been updated since the disappearance of the Ancients. It remains perfectly intact, even after the mysterious disaster that transformed the surrounding region into the Sea of Rust.

It is beautiful.

Transformers: Fall of Cybertron

Shockwave happened upon the room while searching for a way to reboot Cybertron in the Sea of Rust, and discovered prehistoric Earth within it. Studying the primitive planet, Shockwave found its energy supply sufficient to heal Cybertron before further research on the native fauna led to the creation of the Dinobots.

Cliffjumper would stumble upon the room during the search for Grimlock, awed by the room's beauty. He had a look at the hologram of Earth, and voiced his amazement to Jazz, but his partner was more focused on the task at hand. Soon afterwards, however, Jazz would find another hologram of Earth's Solar System, prompting him to wonder why Shockwave was interested in such an underdeveloped planet. Fall of Cybertron

Notes

  • The outdated projection of Earth shows it during the era of Pangaea, indicating the Ancients were still around at least 200 million years ago.
  • The piece of music that plays while the player is in the map room is also the one played during Metroplex's death.
