Comettor (DOTM)
From Transformers Wiki
This article is about the Autobot from Dark of the Moon. For the Mini-Con from Armada, see Comettor (Armada). |
- Comettor is an Autobot from the Dark of the Moon portion of the Movie continuity family.
When Optimus Prime journeys to Earth's moon, Comettor is his partner of choice! The quick and dependable lunar buggy is an expert in navigating the harsh lunar environment, and his high-caliber compressed Energon cannon clears the battlefield of Decepticon obstacles.
Toys
Dark of the Moon
- Optimus Prime / Includes Deluxe Class Comettor (Walmart exclusive, 2011)
- Accessories: "Energon assault cannon"
- Known designers: Andrew Scribner (deco artist)
- Comettor is a white and gold redeco and slight retool of Transformers Landmine. Comettor transforms into a Sector Seven assault buggy of the type seen in the first live-action movie, which in turn is a heavily modified Chenowth Desert Patrol Vehicle (DPV) with added protective armor. The packaging claims this vehicle mode is a "lunar buggy mode."
- Comettor features two Automorph gimmicks. The first is a spring-loaded front end, retracting his front wheels into his chest during transformation. The second is a sliding panel on each of his shins that retracts when the tail light/knee caps are moved into place. In robot mode, his cannon can be back-mounted to make an over-shoulder cannon, or held in his hand. He also has wheels on the soles of his feet, which let him roll in robot mode... in theory, at least, since his heel-wheels rub against his legs, keeping them from spinning freely.
- Comettor features two new tabs on his arms which better secure the hood of the buggy mode. In addition, Comettor is the only use of the mold to glue in the rear bumper, with Landmine and Armorhide leaving those parts loose in their slots.
- He was included as a "bonus value" to Walmart's exclusive Dark of the Moon Voyager Class Optimus Prime (the one with the sparklies). The pair together cost a few dollars less than a regular Voyager Class toy.
- In Australia, this release was available at Kmart for a considerably lower price than a regular Voyager Class toy. It was also available as a non-exclusive in Germany, with Comettor not highlighted as a "bonus" figure.
- This mold was also used to make Revenge of the Fallen Armorhide.
