MOSCOW, March 7. /TASS/. The European Union is currently living through a turbulent period, and time will tell whether Europe can make the right decision, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin stated.
"The European Union is currently experiencing a period of major turbulence, division, and choices. Time will tell whether Europe can make the right decision in the interests of its people rather than Napoleons or clowns," the politician wrote on his Telegram channel.
While right-leaning politicians and conservatives have been winning elections, including to the European Parliament, a trend Volodin said will only intensify in the future, Europe is also seeing a "protracted economic crisis," with the eurozone’s GDP rising a mere 0.7% in 2024. "The German economy is in a recession and it has declined in the past 18 months. The economies of Austria and Italy have been struggling, and industrial production in France has been in decline," he wrote.
