OKI Realizes In-the-field Remote DX with REMOWAY
The goal of OKI's Advanced Remote Operation
In addition to digitization of existing facilities, various devices such as sensors and robots are being introduced in the field where labor shortages are severe. However, they are scattered and the need for centralized management is increasing.
In response, OKI is implementing remote cooperative autonomy of edge devices, including transactions of personnel information in the field, with the aim of improving field efficiency and increasing customer revenue through centrally managed remote DX.
We also plan to expand this solution globally in the future.
Business Entry Steps
Business entry will be carried out in the following three phases using OKI's technology and co-creation with partner companies.
- Phase 1
- OKI will provide "automatic patrol/transportation + task linkage" to security/facility management and manufacturing/FA operations, leveraging our strengths in the fields of highly reliable wireless networks and multi-device linkage.
- Phase 2
- OKI will provide "on-site automation + remote monitoring and control" to shopping complexes, transportation/warehousing, and road construction operations, leveraging our strengths in the fields of manufacturing, and creating products using environmentally-resistant edge devices.
- Phase 3
- OKI will provide "multi-industry on-site + multi-linkage" to monitoring (nursing care/hospitals, automobiles) operations, leveraging our strengths in our infrastructure that seamlessly connects edge data to different industries in real time.
Advanced Remote Operation Platform "REMOWAY®"
OKI provides the optimization of businesses as a whole, through multilateralization of edge devices (robots, IoT devices, equipment) in security and facility management.
We enable safety, security, and flexibility for all edge devices such as sensors, IoT terminals, infrastructure equipment, and service robots by utilizing "REMOWAY", which is the OKI key technology and a remote operation platform that can manage multiple edge devices on a 1:N basis.
REMOWAY is a platform technology that enables remote operations while flexibly linking with on-site personnel in an environment where a wide variety of edge devices co-exist. It can remotely operate multiple types of service robots from different manufacturers, which previously was difficult. Furthermore, it integrates information obtained in real time from edge devices, providing effective solutions to the field with its escalation and action plan functions.
Future Initiatives for Advanced Remote Operation
In the future, we would like to work with co-creation partners to verify the effectiveness of this technology and commercialize it in industry areas such as security, facility management, manufacturing, shopping complexes, warehouses, and construction sites, where labor shortages are becoming a serious issue.
Also, we will work on the global expansion by expanding local sales of Japanese companies through OKI overseas bases, and conducting interviews with customers after investigating the circumstances and issues of each country.
