Team Defense

?Thanks to DodgerSims for pointing out we can get team-level fielding data at the ubiquitous Fangraphs for Dewan, MGL, and .... Fans Scouting Report.  It's all there on one page.

Correlation between Dewan and MGL is r=.71.  Between FSR and the other two, it's .63 or .64 each.  Between FSR and the two of them together, it's r=.69, suggesting that there's little to distinguish Dewan and MGL to try to capture the extra info in FSR.

There are several that stood out.  One was the DBacks, and I wonder if that's a park issue.  Dewan has the DBacks at +71 runs, while MGL has them at +24 runs, and then the Fans have them at only +12 runs.  Another huge disagreement is the A's and their foul territory.  Dewan at +16, MGL at -33, with the fans in the middle at -13.  On the flip-side is the Rox and their park, that the Fans have them at +22, but Dewan at -4 and MGL at -25.

One thing for aspiring saberist is to see which of the three predicts each of the three next year's best.

On a related note, here is the 2010-2015 cumulative stats.  FSR and MGL show a consistent correlation, as does MGL to Dewan.  But FSR and Dewan diverge.

Have fun!
