Last bench-clearing brawl in MLB?
In the NHL, during a game, the last one was in 1987. Post-game, it might have been 1996. Thing is, the NHL has successfully eliminated bench-clearers. And they did that by imposing tough penalties. Not only is the first guy off the bench suspended (10 games I think), but so is the coach (5 games)! Would you want to be a player to have your coach suspended (for the equivalent of 10 games in MLB)?
We already have a thread, so I'll just direct you there.
And for posterity, here's the Greinke/Quentin episode.
And here's all the pitchers who have hit Quentin at least twice, sorted by fewest PA first. You see the Greinke's 2 in 28 isn't that notable, compared to Blackburn's 4 in 37, Lester's 3 in 15, Bedard's 3 in 9 (!), along with a dozen other pitchers with 2 HBP in fewer than 28 PA.?
