Jack Morris’ Leverage Index
Because it seems ?I can't get enough of Jack Morris, and in response to a post at Primer: Jack Morris has a career 1.00 Leverage Index (see pLI column). For whatever it's worth El Presidente was also 1.00 for his career.
Note 1: I THINK that the average for a reliever is around 1.04 and for a starting pitcher it's 0.98. I also remember Studes publishing the overall average LI by inning (regardless of score), and I think it started at around 0.90 in the first innings, and ended at 1.20 or so in the 9th inning (and naturally, much higher in extra innings). So, it would make sense that starting pitchers LI would be a bit lower than relievers.
Note 2: Also note that while the Leverage Index calculation is fairly standard, I did NOT give it to Fangraphs (and Baseball Reference) such that for each particular season, the average truly came in at 1.000 at the season level.
