Baseball Hackathons
?A few weeks ago, I saw this posting for a Hackathon. Two things that struck me: one is that all the work, including source code, will be public domain. Given the experience that Michael Lopez has reported at one of the big conferences, where no one even presents the data(!), this is a huge step up. The second one is that people I've dealt with a few times are involved (Mike, Dan, Jack, Joe). When I saw their names, I knew it was serious, and I have confidence that this is a good effort.
Now, here's another hackathon, this time specifically for the Orioles. BPro has a nice poster of it. I'd love to get feedback from those who have participated in these hackathons. I think it's great that there's this outreach to try to get more people into the front offices. I always recommend people showing off their work on a blog. And this is another avenue to show what you can do.
