Old Hockey Reports
?I came across the "old" stuff I did, which in analytic terms does seem ancient (2006-2008). The term I had come up with was NetShots, not Shots Differential. Funny how I didn't remember that, and I definitely like NetShots better. And I had done WOWY stuff, but we knew that term (with or without you) wouldn't fly, so we settled on Synergy as the term. I don't know that that's a good term, but it's not bad. I had also come up with a Leverage Index, so, I split the data along those lines as well. I had also split the data by close-in and not. We also did some fun stuff with penalties. I also spent ALOT of time just cleaning up the event file data. Sometimes, you'd have no goalie on the ice for a whole period, or you'd have the same ten skaters on the ice for five minutes without a break, things that didn't make sense. The coolest thing though was in that 2005-6 season, they had no textual data on who was on the ice, just the "green chart". I figured out a way to interpret the image so I can convert it into data. The next year though, they gave actual data, so, that was no longer needed. Anyway, really fun stuff.
