Padbruggea is a genus of flowering plants in the family Fabaceae. Its native range stretches from southern China to western Malesia. It is found in Borneo, China, Java, Laos, Malaya, Myanmar, Sumatera, Thailand and Vietnam. The genus name of Padbruggea is in honour of Robbert Padtbrugge (1638–1703), a Dutch doctor in the service of the Dutch East India Company. He was also governor of Ternate (a city in the Indonesian province of North Maluku and an island in the Maluku Islands). It was first described and published in Fl. Ned. Ind. Vol.1 (Issue 1) on page 150 in 1855.
