- Jamal al-Husayni (1894-1982) (Arabic: جمال الحُسيني), was born in Jerusalem and was a member of the highly influential and respected Husayni family. Husayni served as Secretary to the Executive Committee of the Palestine Arab Congress (1921–1934) and to the Muslim Supreme Council. He was co-founder and chairman of the Palestine Arab Party, established in Jerusalem in 1935, and in 1937 became a member of the first Arab Higher Committee, led by Amin al-Husayni, later becoming its chairman. During the 1936-39 Arab revolt he escaped first to Syria (1937) and then to Baghdad, Iraq (1939). He led the Arab delegation to the 1939 London Conference and was Palestinian representative to the Anglo-American Committee of Enquiry. Husayni was arrested by the British in 1941 and exiled to Southern Rhodesia. He was released at the end of World War II and returned to Palestine in 1946. He was an unofficial delegate to the United Nations in 1947-48. In September–October 1948 he was the foreign minister in the Egyptian-sponsored All-Palestine Government. (en)

En 1912, il rejoint l'Université américaine de Beyrouth mais celle-ci ferme ses portes en 1914 à la suite du déclenchement de la Première Guerre mondiale. Il rentre alors a Jérusalem où il obtient un poste, qu'il occupe brièvement, des autorités britannique en raison de sa maîtrise de l'anglais. Il crée par la suite une agence de traduction. Jamal Husseini a servi au secrétariat du comité Palestinien Arabe Action (1921-1934) et au conseil suprême musulman. Il a fondé et présidé le parti Arabe Palestinien et délégué auprès du comité supérieur arabe, mené par Amin al-Husseini. Pendant la grande révolte arabe, il s'est échappé de Syrie en 1937 puis de Bagdad (Irak) en 1939. Il a mené la délégation arabe à la conférence de la table ronde à Londres, il était le représentant palestinien à la Commission d'enquête anglo-américaine. Husayni est arrêté par les britanniques en 1941 en Iran et exilé au sud de la Rhodésie. Il a été libéré à la fin de la Seconde Guerre mondiale et est retourné en Palestine en 1946. Il a été un délégué officieux auprès des Nations Unies de 1947 à 1948. En septembre-octobre 1948, il était le ministre des affaires étrangères dans le gouvernement Égyptien-commandité de Toute la Palestine. (fr)
