- The Houyoux is a northern tributary stream of the river Meuse in Belgium, flowing through Hesbaye in the province of Namur. The Houyoux rises in Warisoulx passing through the villages of Villers-lez-Heest, Rhisnes, the Namur city suburbs of Saint-Servais and Bomel before its confluence with the Meuse in the city of Namur (In the distant past it fed the moat of the northern wall of the city of Namur). In the past, along the Gembloux-Nemur road that passed through the old municipality of Saint-Servais, the Houyoux allowed some watermill powered industry to grow and contributed to the prosperity of the village before it became suburb of Namur. The average flow of Houyoux measured at Rhisnes, in the municipality of La Bruyère (watershed 46 square kilometres (18 sq mi)) between 1971 and 2003 was 0.27 cubic metres (9.5 cu ft) per second. During the same period there has been:
* A maximum average annual rate of 0.48 cubic metres (17 cu ft) in 1981
* A minimum average annual rate of 0.08 cubic metres (2.8 cu ft) in 1971 (en)
- Le Houyoux est un ruisseau de Belgique, affluent en rive gauche de la Meuse, coulant en Hesbaye, dans la province de Namur. Il prend sa source à Warisoulx et, passant par les villages de Villers-lez-Heest, Rhisnes (où le rejoint le ruisseau de La Bruyère) et Saint-Servais, puis Bomel et se jette ensuite dans la Meuse, à Namur. Un de ses affluents est le ruisseau du bois de Mehaigne Longeant la route de Gembloux et traversant le vieux Saint-Servais, le Houyoux a permis à quelques industries (papeteries) de se développer et a contribué à la prospérité de ce village avant que celui-là ne devînt simple faubourg de Namur. Dans un lointain passé il alimentait également les douves de l'enceinte nord de la ville de Namur. Depuis leur comblement, il se divise en plusieurs tracés à partir de Saint-Servais, à l'époque pour collecter les égouts de ces quartiers. A partir de Saint-Servais il est entièrement en souterrain et, divisé en deux, passe sous la rue du Lombard et entre les 'rue des Tanneries' et 'rue Saint-Nicolas'. À nouveau réuni sous la 'place de l'Ilon' le Houyoux se jette dans la Sambre exactement là où elle conflue avec la Meuse. (fr)
