- Michèle Sarde (geb. 1939 als Michèle Benrey in der Bretagne) ist eine französische Schriftstellerin und Literaturwissenschaftlerin. Von 1970 bis 2001 unterrichtete sie an der Georgetown-Universität in Washington Frauenstudien, französische Literatur im 20. Jahrhundert sowie französische Kultur. Derzeit ist sie emeritierte Professorin an dieser Universität mit Wohnsitz in Chile und Frankreich. Die roten Fäden ihres Werks sind Frauen, das Zusammenspiel von Geschichte und individuellem Schicksal und die totalitären Systeme im Zwanzigsten Jahrhundert. - Michèle Sarde, is a French writer (agrégée de lettres, Université Paris Sorbonne-Paris IV), born in 1939. She taught French literature and culture, together with gender and intercultural studies at Georgetown University, Washington D.C., from 1970 to 2000. She is now a Professor emerita at that university and lives in Chile and France. Her literary work reflects her experience at the intersection between three of the world’s regions , drawing inspiration from them. The key themes of her work, for which she has won several literary awards, are the observation of women, intercultural issues, the interaction between history and individual destinies and 20th century totalitarian systems, and the interweaving of personal and historical memory. She is an essayist, biographer and novelist. Her books have been translated into English, Dutch, Italian, Japanese, Russian, and Spanish. (en)
