Fix for an intermittent XBox 360 DVD drive problem
A good buddy has an XBox 360 and it sometimes has trouble reading the game discs. It labors and struggles and eventually gets it right after several minutes. Any way to fix this?

I know there is a ton of links about this online, I checked many, many of them and I have exhausted everything I can think of. Most info is old or based on older Airport Utility software, or using a Windows machine with the Airport, etc. The crazy part is that until a few days ago, I was able to connect easily. Seeking pretty, engaging games with no violence.
Need non-violent game recommendations. Have Xbox 360 (never used), a badass PC, and iPad. Like pretty, detailed environments, exploration, puzzles/deduction, mystery, adventure. Dislike all but the most very mild violence, and also not very good with things that are time-sensitive (like having to do things very, very quickly or have a good reaction time to succeed). Many years ago in the mid-late '90s I enjoyed Myst/Riven, The 7th Guest, Zork Nemesis, the X-Files game, the Titanic game, and a couple other exploring worlds/figuring things out things that I can't remember the names of. For years, I've lived by an absolutely inflexible rule: I will play only one console video game at a time until I beat it. I'm about to finish Deus Ex: Human Revolution on the 360, and my next game will be either Skyrim or Batman: Arkham City. Each is well-reviewed--which one should I play first? Can I install an XBox 360 Arcade Demo from a disc to my hard drive?
The Xbox 360 Arcade game Alan Wake's American Nightmare just went on sale, so I purchased it. I have very limited bandwidth on my Internet plan, though. I do have a demo of the game that came with an Official XBox 360 Magazine coverdisc. Usually, when I have a demo of a game all I need to do to unlock the full game is pay for it, without any additional download. There doesn't seem to be any way to install the demo from the disc to my Xbox's hard drive, though. I do have enough space.
Is there any way I can install the game demo from the disc to the harddrive? I haven't modded my Xbox in any way.

RROD soon?
Playing multiplayer Battlefield 3 on the weekend on an Xbox. My Xbox was juttery and slow. Not laggy from a poor internet connection, the problem seemed to originate on the Xbox itself. Animated loading screens were stuttery. Walking in the game felt like traipsing through mud. My only solution was new batteries in the controller, to no avail. Anyone else have a suggestion?

Now I've got a radio labs wireless adapter/antenna booster. I was just looking at the official 360 adapter, and am struck that they're probably very similar.
Can I use my third part adapter, or is the 360 software so picky that it's not going to work? Thoughts? I'd rather not pay for this crap, Microsoft has enough of my filthy lucre already.
