Should I buy a sealed Nexus 7?

I'm looking for a small device that I can use exclusively for writing (paired with a bluetooth keyboard). I know someone selling a brand new, sealed Google Nexus 7 (2nd Gen), a device with a form factor I love (used to have one). Will this older device (running Android 6, I believe), experience lag or any other issues when paired with a bluetooth keyboard? Both have Bluetooth 4.

First Gen Nexus 7 is unusable and slow since recent Android updates

I've got a first-gen Nexus 7 tablet that I once loved dearly. But for some months now, since one Android update or another, it has become unusably slow. Even between basic functions, it now has the kind of lag time that allows a person to go the kitchen, brew a cup of coffee, come back and settle into their chair and still find the thing dragging. I've really enjoyed owning a Nexus 7 for the past couple of years and my 2013 version is still going strong. However, my husband's offered to buy me an iPad Air 2 for my birthday in a couple of weeks. Can my Nexus 7 be revived?

I have a 2012 Nexus 7 that hasn't been successfully turned on in over a year. After the last time I used it, I was without it for a few months. When I returned, it didn't seem to react to being plugged in to charge, even leaving it charging for a whole day. I didn't have time to deal with it then, so now it's been sitting on a shelf for many months. Can it be resurrected, or is it probably just dead?

Android tablet with best battery life?

My cheapo Android tablet finally gave up the ghost. I'm in the market for a new, nicer one and thought about getting the Nexus 7*. But searching around, it seems to have a lot of problems with battery life, even when on stand-by. I don't play games or watch videos or even listen to music much on a tablet. My main use case is reading and annotating pdf articles and books, especially when traveling (long flights) when battery life is kinda important. Are these battery life concerns for the Nexus 7 founded? Is there another Android** tablet that does better? [more inside]

Nexus 7 battery takes forever to charge

I have an 8-GB Nexus 7 that's about a year and a half old. Its battery life seems fine, but the actual charging takes an unreasonable amount of time. When it was new, it charged in about 2.5 hours; last night it took 7 hours to go from 30% to 60%. I'm using the adapter and cable that came with it. Is there anything I can do to make my device charge faster?

Can I ever get the water marks off of my screen?

A few days ago, my Nexus 7 wasn't switching on. Taking off the back showed there was water inside it - though I hadn't dropped it in water. Left it to dry and it works again - save two 'water stains' on the screen. Does this mean it's likely to remain functional? And can I remove these water marks? [more inside]

Verizon Nixes Nexus, What Now?

Made the mistake of buying an iPhone 5c on which no one can hear me. I've brought it back to the apple store twice, they wanted to give me a third phone and I said no. I'm stuck with the contract but want out of the phone. It looked like the Nexus 7 was going to be a perfect replacement until I found out it don't work with Verizon. Need a contractless, reasonably priced alternative to the 5c. I don't need or want the options of the 5s. Would like to buy new phone over the net not through Verizon or Apple. Any suggestions?

How do I get the "follow" button to show up on Facebook posts?

I have a Galaxy S3 that I've been using to check facebook groups by clicking on the link in my email notification, then opening it in Chrome. I like to "follow" posts to get email notification if anyone else comments. I just got a Nexus 7, and when I access my groups in Chrome, there's no follow button, only "like," "comment," and "share." The follow button does show up in Firefox, but Firefox doesn't let me pinch zoom. Trying to click on the link in my email and then choosing the facebook app to open it with doesn't work at all. So if anyone has ideas about how to either make the "follow" button show up in Chrome or how to zoom in Firefox or if I should use a different browser/app, please let me know. Thanks!

Is my TV too old for my nifty new tablet and adapter?

I bought a Kanex Slimport Adapter (from the company) to connect my Nexus 7 (2013) to my TV. There is no signal - nothing on the TV at all. I have searched around online and it seems that it's possible my TV is just not compatible. But the info is thin on the ground and I am at a loss. I have an older TV -- a Sharp Aquos LC-26DA5U -- which I think I bought in 2006 or 2007. I am going to test it on another TV when I can -- I only own the one TV so it might be a while. Question: Could it be my TV? I don't want to send the adapter back unless it's really broken. Not that I want to buy a new TV, but I really want to watch Netflix with Hola Unblocker....the whole point of this tablet purchasing exercise.

Best Kitchen Mounting System for Nexus 7?

My Nexus 7 has become a near-indispensable kitchen tool, and I'd like to find a way to mount it in the kitchen so I can use it more easily while cooking. I have zero counter space available, so a stand is out, and I can't mount it on the underside of a cabinet, either. Safe wall space is close to zero, too, so I guess that leaves me with the fridge. Are there any decent fridge-mounting systems for the Nexus 7 or other 7" tablets? Ideally I'd like something that allows me to easily insert and remove the tablet, since it won't live in the kitchen all the time. I could probably DIY this but I'm working on so many other household projects I'd really like to be able to buy an out-of-the-box solution and be done with it, though I'd be willing to add magnets to a great non-magnetic mount.
