NYCFilter: I am interested in purchasing a massage/spa package as a gift for my female roommate. Preferably located 60's east side or along the PATH route. Any suggestions?

My girlfriend goes to the spa at Columbus Circle in the Mandarin Hotel. Sort of near the 60s. Juva Skin and The Greenhouse would be closer to you.

Bliss on E 57th Street... and my wife could do the massage!

I second Bliss- always seems to be a popular gift amongst the co-workers and the like. And they're (somewhat) reasonably priced- you know, for a spa. :)

You can get a certificate at an Equinox Gym/Spa and it would be good at all their locations.

You don't say how much you want to spend. On the affordable, but still nice, end of the spectrum, there's Juvenex, which is in Koreatown, just down the street from the 34th St. PATH.

On the higher end, there's Silk Day Spa, which is near both the 14th St and W. 4th St. PATH stations.

They're both great, for different reasons.

Response by poster: I was originally thinking about $250 as a upper end. Didn't really have an idea what spa services can run. People sure do pay a lot for pampering, don't they?

I third Bliss. I've gone there many times and have also given gift certs for services there. For $250 you could get her a massage and a facial, or a massage and a pedicure (I HIGHLY recommend the Double Chocolate pedicure. They give you a brownie and hot chocolate while they rub your feet. Pure, um.. bliss.)
