Product Description

The sb400 solder able pc breadboard enables you to transfer your circuit and wires from a plug-in breadboard without re cutting wires or changing your layout. the sb400 has the same pattern and spacing as a standard 400 connection point solderless plug-in breadboard. it has a standard 5-hole strip for each ic pin, just like solderless breadboards plus 4 power rails. however, it has the advantage that soldered joints provide a more reliable long-term connection than solderless contacts. the sb400 has four power rails like solderless breadboards, plus two bonus rails for power or signals. there are bonus two-hole pads along the centerline allowing dil (dual in-line) headers to be used. bps prototyping boards use high-quality fr4 glass epoxy pcbs for long life, with an anti-tarnish protective coating for easy soldering. bps boards are lead-free and rohs compatible.

Really love this prototype board with rails!

Really love this prototype board with rails!
For someone who is not super skilled at soldering - this prototype board is a godsend! I love that it matches to a breadboard and has similar rows/columns all ready to go. It's super easy to solder to the copper points. I've done 3 projects and I had such a great experience with it on the first I have come back and bought another for each new project. This is basically the final part to my project - soldering to this guy up and then I throw it in a project box.The hard part of your project should be planning and designing, not soldering. This prototype board makes the soldering part easy! I can't imagine switching from these even as I get better, but who knows... either way I would absolutely recommend these to folks, especially people new to soldering.

This PCB (Printed Circuit Board) is very convenient for hobbyists and prototype developers as the layout matches a standard breadboard, such as BB400 Solderless Plug-in BreadBoard, 400 tie-points, 4 power rails, 3.3 x 2.2 x 0.3in (84 x 55 x 9mm).

The PCB can actually be laid over the Breadboard (copper side down) and then be gently lifted off (once all of the components have been placed and the circuit tested) to keep all of component leads and jumpers in their proper places. Bending the wires poking through will help keep them in place when you flip the board over so the leads can be clipped and soldered into place.

Same problem as an earlier reviewer. The board width at the power rails is off just enough (too short) to not fit a Breadboard Power Regulator. The reason I bought is to distribute power from a regulator through the rails. These are a great idea, poorly executed.

This boards are amazing. Everything goes together very easily and nicely. The board is also plexiglass and some other compounds. It is very cool. Really impresses people and gives your projects a nice little added oomph in the looks department. Overall I give these a fiver out of five. Great product, great shipping. Easily the best purchase I've made on Amazon in a long time. I was very impressed with the board. Fr the price it is a no brainer. These are what I am buying from now on. Perfect for every project and for learning.

I like this because if you use this company's BB400 (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0040Z1ERO/ref=cm_cr_asin_lnk) you can transfer your project directly from the breadboard to the PC board - hole-for-hole - and solder everything up to make a permanent circuit.

It's also not too difficult to cut the traces on this board to give more flexibility in circuit layout & design.

The only negative thing I can say is that this isn't a very large project board. You have to get creative at times to squeeze in more than small circuits with multiple components and still have room for everything and be able to route wires & connect power, etc. It's not really designed for large or even medium projects.

Still a nice addition to an electronics hobby kit as you can quickly prototype and then solder your creation up on this and have a working circuit with little fuss.

It has no plated through holes and has no tin plating over copper. Very hard to solder even with flux.

If you are looking for a PCB to seamlessly move your breadboard prototyped circuit to, this may not be the product for you. The spacing is off just enough to be annoying. I use the Solarbotics Breadboard Power Regulator to power my solderless plug-in breadboard when prototyping, and when I tried to move my project over to this solderable PC Breadboard (same manufacturer!) the spacing of the pins width-wise is off enough that the power regulator won't fit. Very frustrating. I won't be ordering this model again.
