Allow Meet hardware to join 3rd party video conferencing services

You can allow Google Meet hardware devices to join Webex and Zoom calls at no additional cost. This feature is turned on by default. Using Webex and Zoom with a Meet hardware device allows core video conferencing functionality.

Turn Zoom interoperability on or off

You can allow Meet hardware devices to join Zoom calls at no additional cost. This feature is turned on by default.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. Go to Menu and then Devicesand thenGoogle Meet hardwareand thenSettings.
  3. (Optional) To apply the setting to a department or team, at the side, select an organizational unit. Show me how
  4. In the Device Settings tab, go to the Built-in Interoperability section and click Zoom.
  5. Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.

    To later restore the inherited value, click Inherit

Turn Cisco Webex interoperability on or off

You can allow Meet hardware devices to join Webex calls at no additional cost. This feature is turned on by default.

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. Go to Menu and then Devicesand thenGoogle Meet hardwareand thenSettings.
  3. (Optional) To apply the setting to a department or team, at the side, select an organizational unit. Show me how
  4. In the Device Settings tab, go to the Built-in Interoperability section and click Cisco Webex.
  5. Click Save. Or, you might click Override for an organizational unit.

    To later restore the inherited value, click Inherit

Unsupported features for Zoom and Webex on Meet

The zoomgov.com subdomain is not supported for Zoom on Meet. Also, if you join a Webex or Zoom meeting from a Meet hardware device, you will not have access to certain features, including:

Using closed captions Using closed captions
Sending chat messages during a meeting Sending chat messages during a meeting

Allow Meet hardware devices to join Zoom calls without being admitted by a host

By default, to join a Zoom call using a Meet hardware device, participants must be admitted by a host already in the meeting. As an administrator, you can allow Meet hardware devices to join Zoom calls without asking by generating an interop token in the Zoom web portal and adding it to the Google Workspace Admin console.

Step 1: Generate an interop token in the Zoom web portal

  1. Sign in to the Zoom web portal as an admin with the privilege to edit Zoom Rooms settings.
  2. To generate a token, click Account Managementand thenAccount Settingsand thenMeetingand thenAllow my organization's 3rd party conference room systems to join my Zoom meetings as an authorized user.
  3. Copy the token; it will not be shown again.

Step 2: Add the token to the Google Admin console

  1. Sign in to your Google Admin console.

    Sign in using your administrator account (does not end in @gmail.com).

  2. Go to Menu and then Devicesand thenGoogle Meet hardwareand thenSettings.
  3. In the Service settings section, click Built-in interoperability direct access.
  4. Paste the token you generated in the Zoom web portal in the section for Zoom Waiting Room bypass.
  5. Click Save.
  6. We expect this feature to be able to bypass the Only authenticated users can join meetings Zoom setting in a future release.
