Research in the use of simulation-based education has been a mainstay of the Clinical Simulation Center since its inception. With over 200 peer-reviewed publications from Penn State Hershey faculty and staff on healthcare simulation, the Center is one of the most prolific contributors to the scientific literature.
Since its founding in 1992, Penn State Hershey faculty and staff have contributed the following to the healthcare simulation field:

Research Funding
The Clinical Simulation Center offers two internal (Penn State Hershey campus only) funding opportunities to support simulation-based education research. The Simulation Education Research Fund (SERF) is supported by the Center’s endowment and offers the following:
Simulation-based Education Program Development and Implementation
Up to four (4) $2,500 grants will be awarded each year to support the development and implementation of simulation-based education programs. The program encourages and provides emphasis to applications that include interdisciplinary and/or interprofessional education programs.
Travel Support for Academic Dissemination of Simulation-based Research
Up to five (5) $1,000 grants to support employees, faculty, staff (including nursing and allied health), and volunteers of the Penn State University College of Medicine, Milton S. Hershey Medical Center, and organizations with current Affiliation Agreements that conduct programs in the Clinical Simulation Center to cover or partially offset expenses related to dissemination of simulation-based research findings at regional, national, or international conferences.
