Cytogenetics

From Simple English Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cytogenetics is the branch of genetics which deals with cytology: cell structure and function. It includes the study of chromosomes, chromosome bands, karyotypes, and cell division, especially meiosis.[1] Cytogenetic studies have also been used to study evolution in natural populations.[2]
