Safeena Husain, Founder of Educate Girls, is a social impact leader, empowering communities for girls’ education in India’s hardest-to-reach villages. Recognised globally, she received an honorary doctorate from LSE and became the first Indian woman awarded the WISE Prize in 2023 for her work in rural education. With a bold vision to empower 10 million learners in 10 years, Educate Girls' innovative approach blends community engagement, predictive analytics, and technology.
Since 2007, Educate Girls has mobilised 1.8 million girls for school enrolment and supported 2.2 million students with supplementary learning in over 29,000 villages. Pioneering outcomes-based financing, Educate Girls launched the world’s first Development Impact Bond in education, achieving outstanding results in enrolment and learning. The organisation is also Asia's first TED Audacious Project. Safeena’s leadership has earned accolades, including the Skoll Award, and MIT Solve Challenge.
