Recursive Implementation
The recursive implementation relies solely on recursion in every implementation, resulting in poor performance.
Non-recursive Implementation
Alternatively, you can use the non-recursive implementation of the
recursion operator. Its behaviour is identical to the actually recursive implementation, but its performance and
usability is greatly improved.
