This paper examines the history of Korean studies and Korean language education in the Russian-speaking region diachronically and analyzes recent trends in Korean language and Korean studies according to changes in the times. In this paper, the period before the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Russia is analyzed diachronically based on literature data, and the period after the establishment of diplomatic relations between Korea and Russia in 1990 is focused on the Russian region, and based on empirical data, it explains the years of implementation of Korean studies and Korean language education in Russian universities, the number of Korean language learners in universities, the number of professors, and the characteristics of each university, and introduces universities and Sejong Institutes in the Eurasian region. The purpose of this study is to study the current status of Korean language education in the Russian-speaking region, and to devise methods for training high-quality Korean language teachers in Korean language education adopted as a second foreign language, and the future direction of Korean language education. This study is valuable in that it is analyzed and systematized based on specific content using actual data from a questionnaire, and suggests the need for joint research on the issue of training experts in Korean studies and Korean language education in the Russian-speaking region, and on Eurasian Korean studies and Korean education that integrates Russia and Central Asia.
