Attachment of P. aeruginosa cells in the presence of different concentrations of LL-37. The attachment assay was carried out in wells of polypropylene microtiter plates as described in Material and Methods. After the inoculation of the microtiter wells, cells were allowed to adhere for 1 h before being washed three times using a multichannel pipette to remove unattached cells. Attached cells were stained with crystal violet, and the number of attached cells was analyzed by measuring the absorbance at 595 nm. Mean adhesion values for each condition were determined for 16 wells, and similar results were observed in three repeated attachment experiments. Statistical significance was determined using Student's t test (**, P < 0.01).
