Abstract

This invention is a water indication method using a printed pattern by mixing inks of different colors with different water solubility. The pattern can be a digitally understandable code so the process of inspection for water contact indication can be done by scanning the label. which is useful in many applications like in postal packages.

Description

Water Sensitive Label
[0001]
Technical Field
[0002] Labels or tickets undergoing a change under particular conditions
Background Art
This invention relates to the detection of moisture, water or any water like liquid in cases that there is a need to know if water exposure to something has happened or is going to happen.
Summary of Invention
[0003] This invention is a water sensitive label which changes color and pattern while in contact with water or other similar products, it can be made in various sizes and patterns and can be customized And because of its properties it doesn’t have the disadvantages of other similar products.
Technical Problem
[0004] There are certain needs to monitor the health of different things from different aspects for example, health of a package from the aspect of water contacts and it's really important to know that this package has been in contact with water or not because it contains water damageable devices, products, chemicals and materials etc.
Or a system that you need to know if it has water leakage in some parts of it (interior/exterior)
Or any other application where it’s needed to detect exposure to moisture or other water like liquids.
Solution to Problem
[0005] This water indication system will indicate water or other similar fluids, if there has been a contact with water or other similar liquids, water sensitive label can indicate it and this indication is obvious and detectable both by human eye and also digital vision devices
Advantageous Effects of Invention Water indication labels already available are made by various technics (patented or not) that they all have problems and flaws including: false water contact indication because of high temperature, high physical pressure, ambient weather humidity. in some of these products the results of water indications which are shown through color change may fade over time or if the labels dry completely or placed in high temperatures, some of these products Use toxic materials and chemicals to function.
[0001] This invention of Water sensitive label doesn’t have any of the problems nor the flaws mentioned above and they can be made customized adding logo and manufacturing them unique every time for every specific use from size of the labels to pattern of them including writings on them.

Description of Embodiments
[0004] This water indication system is made by a simple procedure and thus the way it works is pretty simple, we perform the following operations on a desired paper, which can be glossy or non-glossy surface paper or an adhesive paper or plain 80g paper:
[0005] Using an inkjet printing system, we print a green color that is semi-water- soluble on our paper. To do this, we can use a combination of two basic inks, yellow and cyan (blue). Immediately we add a primary water-soluble magenta ink to the already printed green substrate again by the inkjet method. It blends in to the top of the already existing green (made by the combination of yellow and cyan) and it outcomes a black looking color at the end on our paper.
[0006] The procedure of the Sequential color mixing and the Sequential printings to outcome the result can be done manually by an individual or by using the color creation of the inkjet printing systems by modifying the necessary requirements mentioned above and using the right inks to fill the tank or the cartridges of the inkjet printing system (an inkjet printer) that we are using.
[0007] Using this method and changing the ratio of inks being used can result different final colors just like the inkjet color creation system basis [0008] Other color combinations can be used, which result in a variety of colors
[0009] For the desired results in water indication by color changing, the amount of composited color ratios should be divided in a manner that the share of the base color or its constitutive color forming it (printed substrate) is at least three times bigger comparted to the amount of the topping layer.
[0010] By contacting a drop of water, at first the surface’s topping layer of ink (which was magenta in the preliminary description) is dissolved by water and the underlying green color (or any other substrate color) appears, but the two colors that make up the substrate’s color, will not divide from each other due to equal solubility in water and the color of the substrate will remain the same even after being solved in water. They do not separate and retain the color of their mixture (which was green in the preliminary explanation). Finally, if the water droplet continues to contact the label, the substrate of our printed pattern will retain its color and begin to disperse on the paper and dissolves in water to some extent.
[0011] Because of the mixture of the primary water-soluble magenta with the semiwater-soluble green color (ink) the solving process when in contact with water is not instantaneous and takes some seconds before the indication is completely visible so for the indication to happen properly a drop of water should remain present on the labels surface for about 10 seconds, anything lower than that will result an indication that is a light magenta color and will tell us that the water contact has been relatively low and for a short period of time.
[0012] The printed pattern can be a barcode or a QR code and thus a digital device or machine can automatically detect the health of the package from the aspect of water contact by scanning the pattern and receiving true results of the code if it’s not been damaged by the contact of water.
Examples
Creating the water-sensitive layer on a paper with adhesive layer on the back and use it to label any water-sensitive surface (any desired surface) to observe its contact with water.
Industrial Applicability [0013] This label can be used in electronic boards and by checking the label to find out if the board has been in contact with water or not.
[0014] Many different uses for medicines and chemicals that need to be kept away from water and need to be stored in a dry place. If water comes in contact with these chemicals or drugs, the drug may become toxic and spoiled, making it dangerous to use. In the case of chemicals, water can change the properties of the substance, and if we do not know that the substance has contacted water, due to its applications for us, it can cause serious problems. If water-sensitive label is used, this can be detected and danger and damage from using the rotted chemicals can be avoided.
[0015] Monitoring health of different packages from the aspect of water contact.
[0016] Detecting water leakage in different systems.

Claims

5 Claims
[Claim 1] Design of a water sensitive label; with desired water sensitive pattern applied to the surface of a paper.
[Claim 2] The paper in claim 1 can be any type of paper, glossy or non-glossy, sticky or non-sticky.
[Claim 3] The water sensitive pattern as in claim 1 can be of any desired shape.
[Claim 4] The water sensitive pattern as in claim 1 is made by the procedure explained completely in the description of this patent.
[Claim 5] The water sensitive pattern as in claim 1 is made from a combination and mixture of inks varying in color and water solubility.
[Claim 6] When water or any water like liquid contacts the water sensitive label as in claim 1 it causes irreversible changes to the shape and color of the label’s water sensitive pattern.
[Claim 7] The label of claim 1 is for detecting exposure to moisture and can be used in any application where it’s needed.
[Claim 8] Other shapes, patterns, and letters can be printed by LaserJet method on the paper of claim 1 beside the water sensitive pattern to have water resistive content beside the water sensitive pattern so we the label can be distinguished after heavy water exposures.
