BOTTLE-RINSING APPARATUS'.

SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent N o. 723,792, dated March 24, 1903.

Be it known that I, DENNIS WIcKHAM,a subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Baldock street, Ware, county of Herts, England, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Bottle-Rinsing Apparatus,

of which the following is a specification.

The object of this invention is to construct a rinsing apparatus in such a manner that the nozzle is situate at a distance fromthe bottle-mouth during use instead of being inserted into the bottle-neck as at present, thus allowing for free eXit of the water, whereby all debris is ejected from the bottle during the cleaning. Further means are provided whereby the bottle on being inserted into the` cage is caused to occupy its proper central pol sition, a cushion or cushions being affixed to prevent injury to the bottle should it be carelessly handled.

My invention will be clearly understood from the following description, aided by the accompanying drawings, in which- Figure l is a sectional elevation on line c @c of Fig. EZ. Fig. 2 is a plan, and Fig. 3 an eX- terior elevation, of my bottle-rinser apparatus.

For the purpose of my invention and according to Figs. l, 2, and 3 of the annexed drawings I construct my :rinser apparatus as one article, said apparatus consisting of a skeleton cage l, having its lower portion 2 formed with an opening 3, terminating at its upper end in a nozzle 4:. The lower portion 2 is formed with a projecting nipple 5, having an external screw-thread for attachment of the apparatus to a water-supply pipe. The upper part 6 of the apparatus is of ring formation and is covered with india-rubber or other cushioning material 7 to prevent acci- 'dent to a bottle while being rinsed should such a bottle be carelessly handled. The upper part 6 of the apparatus is also provided with lugs 8, to which are pivoted arms 9, these being encircled by a rubber ring 10 to draw their free ends inside the cage, as shown at Fig. l, so that their inner edges form a cone. The arms 9 pass through slots l1, situate about mid-distance of the length of the cage l, and their inward movement is limited by stops 12, formed thereon, finding a resting-place against the webs 13 o f the skeleton cage'.

What I claim, and desire to secure by Let ters Patent, is-

1. A bottle-rinsing apparatus comprising a frame having a nozzle at its lower end, a cushioning means mounted on the top of said frame, arms pivoted at their upper ends to said frame and at their lower ends adapted 6o to project through and into said frame, and means carried by the arms for retaining them in position.

2. A bottle-rinsing apparatus comprising a frame having a nozzle at its lower end, a

cushioning means mounted on the top of said frame, arms pivoted at their upper ends to said frame and at their lower ends adapted to project through and into said frame, and an elastic means carried by the arms for retain- 7o ing them in position.

3. A conical frame having a nozzle at its lowerend, movable arms depending from said frame, and retaining means surrounding and carried by the Vlower portion of said arm.-

4. A conical frame having a nozzle at its lower end, movable arms depending from said frame, and an elastic retaining means surrounding and carried by the lower portion of said arm.

' 5. A conical frame having a nozzle at its lower end, a cushioning means mounted upon and inclosing the top of said frame, movable armsfdepending from said frame and adapted to have their inward movement arrested thereby, and retaining means for the arms carried thereby.

6. A conical frame having a nozzle at its lower end, a cushioning means mounted upon and inclosing the top of said frame, movable 9o arms depending from said frame and adapted t0 have their inward movement arrested thereby, and an elastic retaining means for the arms carried thereby.
