This invention relates to novel and useful improvements in attachments for use in connecting a skirt and blouse.

An object of this invention is to maintain a skirt in the proper relative position to a blouse.

Another object of this invention is to receive a terminal portion of the blouse in a selective portion of a clip and receive the terminal portion of a skirt in another selected portion of the clip and maintain both portions of the clip in juxtaposition with the upper portion of the skirt overlying the lower portion of the blouse.

Another purpose of this invention is to resilientl maintain. the upper portion of the skirt,

in the bottom position.

Another object of this invention is to readily attach and detach a skirt to a blouse, the attachment and detachment means being easily and readily adaptable for use as a belt.

Other objects and features of novelty will become apparent to those skilled in'the art, in following the description of the preferred forms of the invention, illustrated in the accompanying drawings, wherein:

Figure 1 is a pictorial elevational view of an individual having the present invention utilized in association with the individuals clothing;

Figure 2 is a plan view of one form of the invention;

Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 33 of Figure 2 and in the direction of the arrows;

Figure 4. is an exploded perspective view of one form of the clip or' clamping means;

Figure 5 is a fragmentary perspective view showing the ends of strips of material utilized in association with the first form of the invention;

Figure 6 is a sectional view of a second form of the invention;

Figure '7 is a perspective view of a resilient clip utilized in association with the said second form; and

Figure 8 is a perspective view showing another form of the invention.

This invention has been developed to provide a device for maintaining a skirt and blouse in the proper relative position. As is conventional certain clips and other apparatus may be used for connecting a skirt to a blouse and the field of utility of the present invention extends to many environments and many types of clothing.

Referring primarily to Figures 1-5 wherein the first form of the invention is illustrated, it will be seen that there are two strips of material I0 1 Claim. (Cl. 2--308) and I2 respectively which are adapted to the position adjacent each other. The ends of the strips [0 and I2 may be supplied with conventional hooks l4 detachably engageable with suitable eyes 16. Obviously, this constructionpermits the terminal portions of the strips to be connected and disconnected when so desired and in a conventional manner.

Reference is now made primarily to Figure 4 wherein there is disclosed a first plate or disc 20 having a plurality of slots 22 therein. A second plate 24 is juxtaposed relative to the said first plate 20 and has protuberances 26 which match with the said slots 22. The said strip I0 may be positioned between the plates or discs 20 and 24 respectively and the protuberances 26 projected therethrough. Then, the terminal portions of the 'protuberances 26 may be projected through the slots 22 and bent in order to lock the appropriate elements in place.

The lower portion of a conventional blouse 28 providing a first piece of fabric is illustrated in Figure 3 and it is clearly evident from an inspection of this figure that the lower portion of the said blouse 23 providing a first piece of fabric is positioned between the said second plate 24 and a third plate 30. Further, a protuberance 32 is formed in the said second plate 24 and may be of a resilient nature. This protuberance 32 is detachably received in a central aperture 34 provided in the said third plate 30 and in an apetu're 36 provided in a fourth plate 38.

The terminal portion of the material of the blouse 28 extends around this protuberance 31 and is forced through the aligned central apertures 34 and 36 respectively. By this arrange-- ment the terminal portion of the blouse is maintained fixed in the clamp.

The said third plate 30 has a plurality of protuberances 40 formed therein, which protuberances extend through suitable slots 42 formed in the said fourth plate 38. The said strip of material 12 is interposed between the plates 30 and 38, being maintained in position by medium of the protuberances 4D projecting therethrough and then being anchored in the slots 42.

The conventional skirt illustrated has a top or upper portion 50 providing a second piece of fabric which is detachably associated with the fourth plate 38 and the proturberance 32. The top portion of the skirt is adapted to be projected between the fourth plate and a fifth plate 52 which is hingedly secured to the said fourth plate 38. Any suitable, conventional hinge construction may be utilized in this connection and means for resiliently biasing the fifth plate 52 relative to the fourth plate 38 is supplied. The preferable means is a conventional coil spring 54 attached to the plates at the hinged connection and having arms 56 seated on the fourth and fifth plates respectively.

The upper portion of the skirt is placed between these last mentioned plates 38 and 52 and maintain through the medium of the resiliency of the spring urging the plates together and urging this skirt against a small portion of thestrip of material I2 which is positioned directly over the proturberance 32.

Referring now primarily to Figures 6 and. 7, there is illustrated a second form of the invention. In this form of the invention a-small'housing 80 is supplied with an aperture82. at oneend. and a pair of slots 84 and 86 at the opposite end thereof.

A plate 88 having a shank 90 secured to and projecting therefrom, is, supplied. This shank has a reduced portion 92 substantially medially thereof and is projectable in the said aperture 82.

Means for maintaining the shank 90, in position within the said aperture 82 is supplied. This means is preferably a clip generally indicated at 94 and illustrated in Figure 7. The said clip 94 includes a pair of arms 96 and 98-respective1y which project through the-said slots 84 and 85 and each of the arms is providedwith a cam I00 engageable with a reduced portion of the said shank 90.

A thickness of material I02 may be supplied between the fiat portion I04 of the said clip 94 and a surface of the housing 80 having the slots 84 and 85 therein. Another thickness of material may be positioned between the opposite end of the said housing and the plate 88. Of course, the shank 90 may either extend through the material or, if desired, a portion of the material may be wrapped therearound andprojected in the housing 80 along with the shank.

In operation the clip 94 may be associated with a button hole or the like and various and sundry articles of clothing may be maintained in the desired arranged position.

The shank 90 is of course readily attachable and detachable between the cams I 00 of the arms 96 and 98 respectively Flexibility is provided in this arrangement in that the clip 94 may be moved slightly relative to the housing 80 in order to supply sufficient clearance for use of. various thicknesses of material I132.

Referring to Figure 8, another form of the invention is shown wherein the clip illustrated in Figure 4, is subjected to a type of belt. Fabric or leather portions I20 and I22 have fastening means at one pair of ends and the opposite pair of ends are joined by means of a resilient strip I26. This resilient strip may be composed of a plurality of juxtaposed complemental elements having decorative W001 or other ornamentation associated, therewith. The function of the clips in this form of the invention is identical to the function and operation described in the preceding portions of the specification.

Ofcourse, other variations may be made without departing from the spirit of the invention and therefore, limitation is sought only in accordance with the scope of the following claim.

Having described the invention, what is claimed as new is:

The combination of a supporting strip, a clip member mounted on said strip, a dome-shaped proturberance provided on said clip member, a first piece of fabric superposed on said clip memher and covering said protuberance, a second supporting strip, a second clip member mounted on said second strip and provided with an opening, said protuberance and the covering portion of the first piece-of fabric projecting through said opening to provide a jaw element, a spring pressed plate pivoted to said second clip member and urged toward the same, and a second piece of fabric interposed between the second clip memher and said plate, said plate urging the second piece of fabric in frictional engagement with said jaw element whereby to hold the first and second pieces of fabric in juxtaposition to each other.
