An assembling tool comprising a magazine rod, for a supply of split rings, having an end formed. for interengagement with an end of a cylindrical article and adapted to cause alignment of the axes of the article and rod, a hollow support for the rod, means for movement of the support relative to the rod between a normal position and an assembling position, an arm mounted on the support for swinging movement into and out of an assembling position, and fingers supported by a free end of the arm for I movement relative to each other and the 'armto;
