The closures 67 are mounted on the top edges of parts 69 and are adjustably connected to the latter by the retaining screws ll having large heads. The rolls 5d, 55 and 56 are carried by the shafts l2, l3, and M respectively. When the machine is in active position, the roll 50 is arranged over roll 39 and. positioned in prom imity but spaced from the front of roll 15; the roll 55 is arranged over and extends rearwardly from the roll 54; the roll 55 is disposed in spaced relation to the upper portion of the front of roll 46; the roll 56 is arranged above and rearwardly of roll 55 and in spaced relation to the latter; and the roll 56 is positioned over and slightly forward of the vertical median of roll 46, as well as being spaced from the latter. The shafts l2, 13 extend into the inclined cutouts 64. The shaft it is seated in the cutouts 65. The pick-up fingers 5'! are arranged over roll 55 rearwardly of and in proximity to the guide roll 56.
The pick-up fingers are of like form and each consists of a plate 15 gradually increasing in width from rear to front. The forward end 16 of plate 15 inclines rearwardly from its lower to its upper end. The bottom edge ll of plate '15 inclines downwardly from rear to front. The plate 15, in proximity to its rear end, is formed with an opening 78 and between its vertical median and forward end is provided with an opening 19 arranged below opening I8. The side marginal portions of the plate 15 bordering the end 16 are oppositely beveled, as at 80, to form a feathed edge at the forward end of the plate.
The holding bar 60 extends through the openaoecyeo iiuictions g :2 down so fingers.
. elongated in the 2.0 is of length to project y 2. substantial distance beyond the front of the trough The width of platform. is such as to have its sides arranged over the sides of trough i2. The platform is provided. with spa ed legs for seating upon the top edge of the front Wall 23 of trough G2. The platform C2; detechably secured upon the parts by set screws Arranged at the front of the trough i2 and leading to motor is a controlling means B l for the latter.
The outer faces of the sides l5, it of trough l2 are formed with lugs coasting with the latching members 63 for detachably securing the section 6 relative to section 5 in the position shown in Figures 1 and 3. The controlling springs for members 63 are designated 86. The pivots 5d are secured in the parts 68 of supports 29, 38 rearwardly of and in proximity to rod 58. The latching members 63 extend above said parts 68 to be in convenient reach of the attendant.
The material which is to be acted upon is $21- dicated at 3'1. The material is extended between guide rolls 56, 55, picked up and glue applied to one face of the material by roll G6. The roll 56 causes the material to pass towards the pick-up fingers 57 and these latter function to direct the coated material in the manner as shown in Figure 3.
When it is desired to clean roller 46, as well as rollers 56, 55, and 56 and the fingers 5'5, the section 6 is released and swung to the full line position shown in Figure 2. Section 6 is maintained in such position by the rod or bar 59 seating upon the holders 3i, By this arrangement convenient access may be had to those elements of the machine which are to be cleaned.
