The present invention'is directed to improvements in registers.

The primary object of the invention is to provide a device of this character so constructed that considerable time can be saved in assembling the grades of Sunday school scholars in a quick and practical manner, the constructhm being such that as each scholar cnters the class the various items and studies required can be registered by the iustructors in order that the proper ot icial can, at the proper time, record the grades of the individual scholars in a ledger book.

Another object of the invention is to pro vide a register of this character so Constructed that records of the individual scholars can be obtained without disturbing the class or causing the class to lose time in writing individual reports.

The device consists of a back 1, preterably 'l'ormed from wood and having a longitudinal groove 2 formed thei-ein and in which is fitted a card board strip 3, the purpose of which will be later explained.

Covering the groove 2 and Secured to the board 1 in any suitable manner is a strip of sheet metal a having longitudinal slots 5 formed therein which are adapted to register ai' certain times with the slots 6 formed in the slide bar 7, as shown in Figures l and 2 of the drawing. This bar is slidablc in the casing 8, said casing being suitably fixed to the board 1 and being provided with rectangular openings 9 and elongated notches 10 which communicate with or open into said openings.

The slide bar 7 is provided upon one end with a handle 11 to facilitate the sliding thereof.

The indicators 12 are formed from rectan gular pieces of stili cardboard or metal, as desired, and are arranged between the front wall of the casing 8 and slide bar 7. Studs 13 are engaged intermediate their ends in the indicator' 12 and have their heads 14 adapted to 'rictionally engage the strip 3.

The board 1 has a space 15 in which the class name may be printed and also a space 16 in which the organization name is printed.

Immediately above the openings 9 are spaces 17, 18, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24, bearing respectively the following legends, Present 10%, On time 10% Studied topic 15%, On program 15%, Studied course 10%, Daily Bible reading 15% Attending preaching 10%, and Giving offering 15%.

Between the spaces bearing the legends and the space 16' is a space 25 in which may be printed the directions for Operating the register.

It will be observed upon reference to Figure 5 that the heads 14 of the stud engage with the inner surfaces of the strip 4, while the shanks thereof are sliclable in the slots 5 thereof, at points adjacent their heads. The shanks of said studs also are capable of sliding in the slots of the sliding bar 7, as well as in the i openings 9 and their associated notches 10.

Qne end of the casing 8 is provided with a spring tongue 26 which serves to maintain the card 27 in place and it is upon this card that the name of the scholar is printed.

The drawing illustrates a\ register capable of recording the work and efl'orts of a single scholar, and it will be of course understood that in actual practice the board will be of such length that a number of registers may be secured thereto in vertical alinement in order that the work of an entire class can be registered.

Normally the slide bar 7 is in the position shown in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing, and at which time the slots 6 thereof are in full registration with the slots 5 of the strip 4. hen the slots 5 and 6 are in such position any of the studs 13 occupying the notches 10 may be grasped to move the associated indicator to the left until it plainly shows through. the associated opening 9, and at which time it occupies the position shown under the legend 19 in Figur-e 1. As the scholars efi'orts are obtained the indicators may be successively moved to indicate the grade obtained. However, if the grade is perfect the indicators can all be moved simultaneously upon sliding the bar 7 to the left, thus moving the studs 13 and their attached indicators to the position shown in Fignre 3 of the drawings.

To reset the indieators 12 for the next class meet-ing, the slide bar 7 is moved to the right to it-s fullest extent thus moving the stiids to the position indicated in Figure 4 of the drawing.

The device ma be finished in any color desired, it being` essential that the indiceto-rs 12 are of contrasting color in order to be readiiy discernible.

Having thue 'described the invention, I claim:

l. A register ot the class described comprising` a easing having openings therein, e bar slide-ble in the casing, indicators having studs fixed thereto, said stnds being slidably interlocked with the bar for simultaneous movement therewith o-r independent movement with respect thei-ete for registration with the openings.

2. A register ot' the class described comprising a board having iegenc s, a casing fixed to the board and having openings disposed sdjacent the respective legends, a slide bar 'bv the board and having openings,

mounted in 'the casing, indicators having studs fixed thereto 'or slidable interioeling engagement with the bar, said bar being caable of being slid to simultaneously move the indicators into or out of registration with said openings, said indicators when in registration with said openings indicating that the support of the-legendas alined therewith has been tullled.
