To all lwhom it may'concem Be it known that I, EMILIAN KoLTsoHA- Norr, a subject of' the' Czarof Russia, and residing at Taganrog, in the Empire of Russia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Pneumatic IPumps for LiftingGranular Materials, of .which the followiugis a specification.
This invention consists in a rotary pneumatic pump vfor lifting granular' materials (hereinafter ,referred as grain) in which a currentofair sucked in by the 'pump carries t-he grain in-'to the pump, Where it fillsthe suction space, from which the grain is conveyed by moving abutments of the pump to the pump out-let:
The improved'pump resembles a 'cert-ain type of existing rotary pumps inasmuch as 1t comprises la rotary drum arranged in a casing and provided with movable abutments which are caused to slide` radially in and out of the drum by the action of camgrooves or camraces lformed in the side plates or covers of thepump casing: In the improved'pump, an air-inlet valve 1s provided a short distance in front of the pump. outlet, and is arranged to be opened on the passage of one of the abutments for the purpose of admitting air for destroying the vacuum formed in the suction space, and t-hereby increasing the eiciency of the PUIUP-V i An addltional air suction side of the being adjusted so Pump- A. constructlonal form of pump for the purpose of as to regulate the output drawings, in whic lgure 1v is .a section of the improved pum taken in the plane of the rotary drum, and- 1g. 2 1s an axial sectlon thereof taken" at. right angles to Fig.- 1.

The bearings 3 for the shaft 4 are preferably constructed as roller bearings compris# ing rollers 13 resting in the side-covers2 and held in place by collars -15 on the shaft 4.. These rollers areadjust- `ed by means of adjusting rings 16 actln upon the rollers through the medium 0 wedges 17.

As soon as 1t has passed this partition, ment is moved outward again until in its upper position shown in Fig. 1, it comes in contact again with the periphery ot the cylindrical casing 1.
For the purpose ot avoiding a crushing or cutting of theindowing grain against the edges ci the inlet 11, a butler 26, for instance ot rubber, carrying an elastic plate 27, may be provided as shown.
Practical use has shown that the improved pneumatic pump hasa veryhigh output in lifting grain, and is much superior to existmpneumatic elevating apparatus.
