Abstract

PURPOSE:To provide a skin protecting agent useful as a cosmetic or drug for protecting the skin or mucosa of the defatted state or inflamed state, by using the juice or extract of a plant belonging to Malvaceae family, Hibiscus genus, as an essential component. CONSTITUTION:The objective skin protecting agent contains the juice or extract of a plant belonging to Malvaceae family, Hibiscus genus, e.g. Hibiscus Rosa- sinensis L., H. Manihot L., H. esculentus L., H. glutinotexile kagawa, H. syriacus L., H. sabdariffa, and H. abelmoschus, as an essential component, and pref. the juice or extract of aloe as arbitrary component. The skin protecting agent is used in the form of cream, lotion, ointment, etc. or by adding to a kitchen detergent. It exhibits remarkable effect for the restoration of chapped skin, the remedy of chaps and cracks in the skin, and the prevention of roughening of the skin, by the action of the juice or the extract of the plant belonging to Hibiscus genus or the synergistic effect of the above with the juice or extract of aloe.
