Abstract

PURPOSE: To permit the regeneration of filter by burning for making the removal of fine particles easier by spraying a powerful oxidant aqueous solution onto fine particles present in exhaust gas being collected onthe heat-resistant filter.
CONSTITUTION: Fine particles, e.g., carbon particles, present in exhaust gas are arrested by a heat-resistant filter filled with steel wool. When the filter 4 is clogged to a given extent, an aqueous solution of a powerful oxidant, e.g., a chlorate, a nitrate, a permangamate, etc. is jetted from a supplier at the heat-resistant filter 4 so as to adhere it to the fine particles, whereupon the fine particles take fire and are burned because the filter 4 is heated by waste heat. In this case, the temperature of ignition is lowered and the burning speed is acclerated by the powerful oxidant.
