Abstract
PURPOSE:To expand a dynamic range, by detecting that a digital signal has become a prescribed value, increasing a conversion characteristic of a value of an analog signal againt a value of a digital signal, and returning the conversion characteristic to its original state after a prescribed time has elapsed. CONSTITUTION:A transmission side variable attenuator 2 is provided on the input side of an A/D converter. When an analog input signal supplied to the A/D converter 4 exceeds full-scale voltage of the A/D converter 4, the attenuation quantity of the attenuator 2 is switched by a controlling circuit 5, and by this switching, the analog input sigal supplied to the A/D converter 2 is attenuated to about 1/2. Subsequently, after a prescribed time has passed, the attenuation quantity of the attenuator 2 is switched automatically, and by this switching, the analog input signal is not attenuated to aboug 1/2 but is supplied to the A/D converter in its oriinal attenuation state.
