Abstract
PURPOSE: To produce steel directly from iron ore within a converter by adding and blowing iron ore, reducing carbon material and oxygen gas at the specific ratios during steel making refining process with the converter.
CONSTITUTION: Iron ore, coal, coke or charcoal as a reducing agent are added at fixed ratios after the time when decarbonization reaction progresses forward and backward and leaves an oversaturated state of [C] on progression of desiliconization reaction and rising of the temperature of the steel bath after the start of the steel making refining through oxygen blowing in a converter. These raw materials are added in the state of mixed pellets, or separately from the furnace top or by making use of a sublance and furnace bottom fuyeres. In proportion to the rate of the addition of these raw materials, the blowing by pure oxygen is performed to reduce Fe2O3 in the iron one into steel. The addition amounts of this case are made 0.3W 1.5t of coal based on 1t of the iron ore, 0.2W1.0t in the case of charcoal and 10W 600Nm3 of oxygen.
