Abstract
PURPOSE: To make it possible to use the cross-flow hydraulic turbine at a place where the head of water varies greatly by a method wherein a nozzle for jetting water falling from a conduit is mounted t move along a frustoconical rotor so that the water jet from the nozzle is directed to a desired position on the rotor.
CONSTITUTION: The nozzle 2 jets the water falling from the conduit 7 which is capable of following the movement of the nozzle. The nozzle 2 is arranged on guide rails 8 through rollers 9 and is movable along the frustoconical rotor 1. With such an arrangement, the falling water from the conduit 7 can be directed to a desired position on the rotor 1 through the nozzle 2 and therefore the outer diameter of the rotor can be varied in proportion to the head of the water, e.g., the falling velocity of the water. In short, when the head of water is great, a large diametered rotor may be used and when otherwise, a small diametered rotor may be used whereby the rotational velocity of the output shaft of the hydraulic turbine is kept constant.
