Abstract

PURPOSE: To smoothyl and easily operate a transmission consisting of a main and an auxiliary transmission units, by automatically operating the auxiliary transmission unit in response to the quantity of depression of an accelerator pedal.
CONSTITUTION: The transmission consists of the main transmission unit 1 and the auxiliary transmission unit 2. The main transmission unit 1 is manually operated. The auxiliary transmission unit is automatically operated. An oil pump 32 is driven by an output shaft 28. A switch 36 is operated in response to the quantity of depression of the accelerator pedal 37, for example, at 90 % of opening of a throttle valve. Thereby, a solenoid valve 33 is energized to supply pressure oil from the oil pump 32 to a brake 25 to engage it. As a result, the gear ratio increases. When the degree of opening of the throttle valve falls below 60 %, the solenoid valve 33 is de- energized and a clutch 24 is engaged. As a result, the gear ratio decreases.
