Description
色素増感太陽電池において、厳密に式(1)が成り立たつとはいえないが、シリコン太陽電池の場合と同様に、逆電流の増加によるVocの低下が起こると考えられる。色素増感太陽電池における逆電流の抑制には、例えば、J.Am.Ceram.Soc.,80(12)3157−3171(1997)(非特許文献1)に記載されているように、電解液にt−ブチルピリジン(TBP)を混合する、あるいは、TBPを含む溶液で色素吸着電極を処理することが有効であることが知られている。
支持基板1及び8としては、ガラス基板、プラスチック基板等が挙げられる。その板厚は、太陽電池に適当な強度を付与することができるものであれば特に限定されない。また、支持基板1及び8の少なくとも一方が透明である。
(1)透明導電膜上に半導体粒子を含有する懸濁液を塗布し、乾燥及び/又は焼成して多孔性半導体層を形成する方法、
(2)必要な原料ガスを用いたCVD又はMOCVD法等により透明導電膜上に多孔性半導体層を形成する方法、
(3)固体原料を用いるPVD法、蒸着法、スパッタリング法、ゾルゲル法等により多孔性半導体層を形成する方法
等の単独又は組み合わせた方法が挙げられる。
なお、電解液には、金属錯体色素の配位子と同種の化合物を含ませてもよい。
表1の複素環式化合物を表1に示す濃度で電解液として使用し、以下のように色素増感太陽電池を作製した。
市販の酸化チタンペースト(Solaronix社製、商品名Ti−Nanoxide D、平均粒径13nm)を、ドクターブレード法により、透明導電膜であるSnO2膜が蒸着された透明基板であるガラス板(日本板硝子社製)に塗布した。この後、塗布膜を300℃で30分間予備乾燥し、次いで500℃で40分間焼成し、多孔性半導体層として、膜厚20μmの酸化チタン膜を得た。
Solaronix社製Ruthenium535−bisTBA色素を4×10-4モル/リットルの濃度となるようエタノール(Aldrich Chemical Company製)に溶解し、溶液を調製した。次に、上記酸化チタン膜を形成したガラス板を、この溶液中に30分間保持し、増感色素を酸化チタン膜に吸着させた。得られた吸着色素濃度は、酸化チタン膜に対して、7×10-8モル/cm2であった。その後、該電極をエタノール(Aldrich Chemical Company製)で洗浄・乾燥に付した。
キャリア輸送層として用いる酸化還元性電解液は、アセトニトリル(Aldrich Chemical Company製)と表1に示された化合物(すべてAldrich Chemical Company製)とを混合した溶媒に、濃度0.6モル/リットルのDMPII(四国化成製)、濃度0.1モル/リットルのヨウ化リチウム(Aldrich Chemical Company製)、濃度0.05モル/リットルのヨウ素(Aldrich Chemical Company製)、濃度0.5モル/リットルのTBP(Aldrich Chemical Company製)を溶解させて作製した。
上述した多孔性半導体層を形成したものと同じ透明導電性ガラス板に、白金膜を1μm蒸着して対電極を形成した。この対電極と上記で得られた光電変換層を短絡防止のためのスペーサーを挟んで重ねた。酸化還元性電解液を間隙より注入し、それらの側面を樹脂でシールした。各電極にリード線を取付けて、太陽電池を得た。

Claims (2)
- 透明電極と対電極との間に、増感色素が吸着された多孔性半導体層と、電解液を含有するキャリア輸送層とを備え、前記電解液が、環構造中に硫黄原子を少なくとも1つ有する複素環式化合物を含み、前記複素環式化合物が、チオフェン、テトラヒドロチオフェン、及びそれらの低級アルキル基での置換体からなる群から選ばれた化合物であることを特徴とする色素増感太陽電池。
- 前記電解液が、5〜80体積%の濃度で前記複素環式化合物を含む請求項1に記載の色素増感太陽電池。
