(式中、熱可塑性エラストマー組成物中の連続又はマトリックス相成分及び分散相成分の体積分率は、それぞれ、Φm及びΦdであり、そしてマトリックス相成分及び分散相成分の溶融粘度は、それぞれ、ηm及びηdである)
を使用して、体積分率及び溶融粘度を定義すること、並びに更に、分散したゴム粒子サイズドメインを減少して、耐久性を改良するために、粘度の比ηm/ηdを1に近づけることが提案された。しかしながら、特許文献3に於いて、低温度での耐久性は、ゴム粒子サイズを減少することだけによっては不十分であったことが報告されている。
好ましい態様に於いて、予備配合に関連して、予備配合された混合物の制御された供給の便利さのために、予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマーをペレット化し、このペレットを冷却する。

Claims (20)
- 高温でポリマー成分に剪断を適用することができるミキサー内で実施する、熱可塑性エラストマー組成物を製造するための動的加硫方法であって、該組成物が、ハロゲン化イソブチレン含有エラストマーを含む少なくとも1種の第一のエラストマー又はゴムの分散した粒子及びポリアミドと反応してポリアミドにグラフト化することができる、少なくとも1種の官能基を有する少なくとも1種の第二のエラストマー又はゴムの分散した粒子を含んでなり、該少なくとも1種の第一のエラストマー及び該少なくとも1種の第二のエラストマーの粒子が、ナイロンホモポリマー及びナイロンコポリマーからなる群から選択された少なくとも1種のポリアミドを含む、連続した熱可塑性ポリアミドマトリックス中に、分散しており、該方法が、
(1)該ハロゲン化エラストマー中に、該ハロゲン化エラストマーを架橋して予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマー組成物を得るのに適した少なくとも1種の硬化剤又は硬化システムを、該硬化剤又は硬化システムを実質的に均一に分散させるには十分であるが、該エラストマーの実質的な架橋(これは、高温及び剪断の条件下でポリアミドに添加したときに、その続く流動及び分散を妨げる)を起こすのには不十分である、剪断条件、混合時間及び温度を使用して分散させる工程、
(2)該少なくとも1種のポリアミド及び任意的な少なくとも1種のナイロン熱安定剤若しくは酸化安定剤若しくは光安定剤又はこれらの組合せを、該ミキサー中に導入し、このナイロンを溶融させ、該任意的な安定剤を該ポリアミド中に分散させるのに十分な剪断及び熱を適用して、ポリアミド混合物を形成させる工程、
(3)少なくとも1種のナイロン可塑剤を、該ミキサー内に存在する温度及び剪断条件下で、該ナイロン混合物の粘度を、該予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマーの粘度に実質的に適合させるために十分な量で導入する工程、
(4)該ミキサー中に、該予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマーを導入し、該ハロゲン化エラストマーの動的加硫を開始するために十分な量で熱及び剪断を適用する工程並びに
(5)該第二のエラストマーを導入し、加熱及び剪断を継続して、該第二のエラストマーを実質的に分散させ、該ハロゲン化エラストマーの該動的加硫を実質的に完結させ、そして該ミキサーから、該動的に加硫された熱可塑性エラストマー組成物を取り出す工程を含んでなる動的加硫方法。 - 前記ミキサーが、L/D(ここで、Lは少なくとも1個の押出機スクリューのフライトの長さであり、Dは該少なくとも1個の押出機スクリューのフライト付き部分内の最大直径である)の特性値を有する少なくとも1個の押出スクリューを有する混合押出機である、請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記押出機が二軸スクリュー押出機である請求項2に記載の方法。
- 前記押出機が約25〜約60のL/Dを有する請求項3に記載の方法。
- 前記予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマーを、前記押出機の全体L/Dの半分又はそれ以下の上流位置で前記押出機に供給し、前記第二のエラストマーを、前記押出機の全体L/Dの半分又はそれ以上の下流位置で前記押出機に供給する(但し、前記予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマーの供給位置と前記第二のエラストマーの供給位置とは、少なくとも約L/D=6の前記押出機に沿った距離だけ、互いに分離されている)請求項4に記載の方法。
- 工程1に於いて、前記予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマー組成物をペレット化し、形成されたペレットを冷却することを更に含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ハロゲン化エラストマーが約0.1ミクロン〜約1.0ミクロンの平均サイズを有する粒子の形で前記ポリアミドマトリックス中に分散され、前記第二のエラストマーが、約0.1ミクロン〜約1.0ミクロンの平均サイズを有する粒子として、前記ポリアミドマトリックス中に分散されている請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第二のエラストマー又はゴムがエチレン性不飽和ニトリル−共役ジエン系高飽和コポリマーゴム(HNBR)、エポキシル化天然ゴム(ENR)、ニトリルブタジエンゴム(NBR)、ヒドリンゴム、アクリルゴム、無水マレイン酸グラフト化アクリロニトリル−ブタジエン−スチレンゴム(ABS)、無水マレイン酸グラフト化エチレン−プロピレン−ジエンゴム(EPDM)、無水マレイン酸グラフト化スチレン−エチレン/ブタジエン−スチレンゴム(SEBS)、マレイン化エチレン−プロピレンコポリマーゴム(EPM)、マレイン化エチレン−ブテンゴム、マレイン化エチレン−ヘキセンゴム、マレイン化エチレン−オクテンゴム、マレイン化エチレン−デセンゴム、マレイン化エチレン−酢酸ビニルコポリマー、マレイン化エチレン−アクリル酸メチルコポリマー、マレイン化エチレン−アクリル酸エチルコポリマー、マレイン化エチレン−アクリル酸コポリマー、EPDM/スチレンコポリマー、マレイン酸変性EPDM/スチレンコポリマー、EPDM/アクリロニトリルグラフトコポリマー、マレイン酸変性EPDM/アクリロニトリルグラフトコポリマー、スチレン/マレイン酸コポリマー、反応性フェノキシ熱可塑性樹脂、マレイン化イソブチレン−イソプレンコポリマー、マレイン化イソブチレン−パラメチルスチレンコポリマー、マレイン化ハロゲン化イソブチレン−イソプレンコポリマー、マレイン化星状枝分かれブチル(SBB)コポリマー、マレイン化BIMSコポリマー及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記第二のエラストマー又はゴムが約:50重量%、45重量%、40重量%、35重量%、30重量%、25重量%、20重量%、15重量%、10重量%、9重量%、8重量%、7重量%、6重量%、5重量%、4重量%、3重量%及び2重量%よりも少ない無水マレイン酸からなる群から選択された量で存在する無水マレイン酸を含む請求項8に記載の方法。
- 前記実質的に完全な動的加硫が、約60%〜約95%超、約65%〜約95%、約70%〜約95%、約75%〜約90%超、約80%〜約98%、約85%〜約95%及び約85%〜約99%からなる群から選択された硬化度に相当する請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記硬化度が少なくとも約80%である請求項10に記載の方法。
- 前記エラストマー含有組成物が充填剤及び可塑剤からなる群から選択された少なくとも1種の成分を更に含む請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ポリアミドがナイロン11、ナイロン12、ナイロン6/66コポリマー及びこれらの混合物からなる群から選択される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記少なくとも1種のハロゲン化イソブチレン含有エラストマー又はゴムがハロゲン化ブチルゴム、ハロゲン化イソオレフィン/パラアルキルスチレンコポリマー、ハロゲン化イソブチレン−p−メチルスチレン−イソプレンコポリマー、ハロゲン化枝分かれブチルゴム及びハロゲン化星状枝分かれブチルからなる群から選択される請求項1に記載の方法。
- 前記ハロゲンが臭素及び塩素からなる群から選択される請求項14又は請求項15に記載の方法。
- 前記ハロゲン化イソオレフィン/パラ−アルキルスチレンコポリマーがC4〜C7イソオレフィンを含む請求項14に記載の方法。
- 前記ハロゲン化イソオレフィン/パラ−アルキルスチレンコポリマーがハロゲン化ポリ(イソブチレン−共−p−メチルスチレン)コポリマーを含む請求項17に記載の方法。
- 前記ハロゲンが臭素を含む請求項18に記載の方法。
- 長さ対直径(L/D)スクリュー比が49で、ポリマー及びその他の成分に剪断、熱及び冷却を適用することができる、二軸スクリュー押出機ミキサー内で実施する、熱可塑性エラストマー組成物を製造するための、動的加硫方法であって、該組成物が臭素化ポリ(イソブチレン−共−パラメチルスチレン)(BIMS)ゴムの動的に加硫された粒子及びマレイン化エチレン−オクテンコポリマーゴムの粒子を含み、該粒子のそれぞれが、連続した熱可塑性ナイロン6/66コポリマー樹脂マトリックス中に分散しており、該方法が、
(1)100重量部のBIMSゴム中に、0.15部の酸化亜鉛、0.60部のステアリン酸及び0.30部のステアリン酸亜鉛の混合物を含む硬化システムを分散させ、それによって予備配合されたBIMS組成物を得、該硬化システムを実質的に均一に分散させるためであるが、該BIMSの実質的な架橋(これは、高温及び剪断の条件下で、その続く流動を妨げる)を起こすのには不十分である、40RPM、90℃で3.5分間、インターナルミキサー内で混合し、そして該予備配合されたBIMSをペレット化し、冷却する工程、
(2)L/D=3.5の該押出機中に、62.4部のナイロン6/66コポリマー及び0.47部のナイロンの熱、酸化、光安定剤の混合物を導入し、このナイロンを溶融させ、この安定剤を該ナイロン中に分散させるのに十分な剪断及び熱を適用し、ナイロン混合物を形成させる工程、
(3)L/D=7で、26.8部の、ナイロン可塑剤であるN−ブチルスルホンアミドを導入する工程、
(4)L/D=28で、前記(1)に示した組成物に従った該予備配合されたハロゲン化エラストマーを含んでなるペレットを導入し、該ハロゲン化エラストマーの動的加硫を開始するのに十分な量で、熱及び剪断を適用する工程並びに
(5)L/D=35で、10.0部のマレイン化エチレン−オクテンコポリマーゴムを導入し、加熱及び剪断を継続して、該第二のエラストマーを実質的に分散させ、該BIMSの動的加硫を実質的に完結させ、そして該ミキサーから、該動的に加硫された熱可塑性エラストマー組成物を取り出す工程を含んでなる動的加硫方法。
