Abstract

890,170. Storage tanks. LANCASTRIAN EVAPORATORS Ltd. Dec. 12, 1960 [Dec.11, 1959], No. 42109/59. Class 69 (1). [Also in Groups XVII and XXXII] A tank 1 is provided with an entry through which one or more collapsed, expandable containers 3 are inserted, a cover 4 for the said entry which carries a conduit 5 through which the container connector-tube 6 is connected to a valve 13 leading to a supply or delivery head and means, such as a one-way valve 15, to permit escape of air from the tank 1 whilst the containers are being filled. The containers are flexible, washable and sterilizable bags of polythene, folded, when empty, concertinafashion or fanwise (Fig. 2, not shown). The cover 4 may be provided with several pipes 5 to serve as connectors when more than one container is used. The container tubes 6 are sealed at their outlet by a collar 11 which cooperates with a seating ring 8 on the outlet pipe 9 as shown in Fig. 3. Pressure supplied at 14 between the tank and the container serves to evacuate the latter. In another embodiment (Fig. 5, not shown), the container has a peripheral external flange by which it is clamped between the cover-plate and a flange around one end of the tank to which the latter is circumferentially attached.
