748,200. Water heaters. METERS, Ltd. Dec. 8, 1954 [Dec. 29, 1953], No. 36024/53. Class 64(1). A gas-operated water heater comprises a water vessel having a flue extending vertically therethrough, the flue comprising a tapered centre part fitted with a heat-exchange unit and two cylindrical end portions c, d, into each of which is fitted a metal sleeve e having external annular ribs f. The heat exchange unit fitted in the tapered portion b of the flue comprises a plurality of L-shaped members i formed with slots m into which fit corresponding slots k in hollow cylindrical caps j located at the top and bottom of the unit, the caps being held in place by means of a bolt n. Slots q are also provided in the members i for the purpose of accommodating a metal annulus o. A baffle plate r may be mounted in the upper cylindrical portion c of the flue, being supported on an extension of the bolt n.
